DIY Cake Stand

I have had this large candle stand for a while, that I got at a yard sale for about a quarter. So, I went out to the dollar store and got that round silver plate you see in the picture below. 

I spray painted the candle stand turquoise.
 And I spray painted the plate white.
Then I glued them together! 

The candle stand is upside down because it looked really weird with the big base on the bottom. 
This was such an easy, fun, and cheap project! There are so many color combinations you could do!

What type of glue did you use?? What is the candle stand made of? Plastic? Metal?

I am curious about the glue too! When I have made these I have used a couple different glues and they dont hold. Great project, now following!
